Hurricane Sandy "Frankenstorm"
News flash: Hurricane Sandy is hanging out off our coast and the wind is blowin! School was cancelled today, YAY! There have been intermittent rains that have been blowing sideways through every crack and crevice. The ocean is churned up beyond belief, i have a few pictures from high tide @ 6 P.M.. They don't quite do it justice. Waves can be seen from certain spots of A1A.

What a refreshing treat!
Apparently, for years people have been wandering in to this little shop, buying ice cream and feeling as if something was missing? Nothing pairs with ice cream better than a carton of cigarettes.

Happy Trails Yan and Liba
After an extended stay in Florida Yan and Liba are making the trek back to Australia. Karen cooked a wonderful dinner to bid goodbye. Chicken stuffed with feta and wrapped in bacon.

Beer Review: Colt 45
Against my better judgement I picked up a Colt 45 Strawberry Lemonade Blast. In moments of weakness I am attracted to flashy things, and this can of stuff was definitely flashy. It boasted 12% alcohol in a tall-boy can. It tasted like pixie stix and cough syrup but still had a bona-fide beer aftertaste. I would not recommend this as a go to high alcohol drink, however I would place it above a Steel Reserve.

Funny Hats and Silly Faces
So the hats were clearly a big hit this weekend with the little ones. Ruby June and Logan were entertained all weekend with the help of two hats and an exercise ball.

3 Pillars
A wise old owl once said "Buy Low, Sell High". I reverberate these sentiments as I sold a few shares of AT&T a couple of weeks back. I don't think I could have timed it any better as the market seems to maintain it's downward turn as of late.
We have updated our III Pillars income with a new $100 cash back from a credit card. I must also stress that not a cent of interest was accrued on this card. The cash back was a result of a change in spending habits. This will fall into Pillar I.

Spoiled Puppy!
Hurricane Ruby returned to our beach this past weekend and plenty of damage was done. Magpie received more attention than she knew what to do with. I think Logan has a new BFF.

Blast from the past
I came across this old pic from the pre-married USF days. I'm feeling a little fat.

Does anyone still read Florida Today?
Does anyone else find this a bit inappropriate? Either the editors didn't catch on to it or they no longer care. This headline is even funnier when you try to say SpaceX five times fast. We did go out Sunday night to watch the launch, and it was amazing. Congrats to the private space industry, I hope you are here to stay.

Life in the Forest
I asked the kids to write down and draw what life in the forest would look like. The youngest one drew a picture of a Giraffe break-dancing. Apparently that happens in the forest all the time.

Leffe Beer Review
Last weekend I finished off a Leffe Blonde (monk brewed). I took half and grandpa had the rest. The Leffe carries a higher than normal alcohol content which in turn gave it a sweeter maltier taste. I am not too partial to the malts. Grandpa thought it was great stuff until the Moscato was opened up.

Happy Birthday Trinity!
We celebrated Trinity's birthday down at the park last weekend. Alea and Karen debuted their artistic talents as face painters. There were dogs, princesses, butterflies and unicorns galore.

Lobster Dinner
The Butler Surf and Turf Beachside Inn is officially open for business. We put together a nice lobster and chicken dinner paired with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Grandpa swears that he had lobster only one other time. I broke out the Cheeseburger in Paradise Mug to class the joint up.

Obikwa Moscato Wine Review
We went through three bottles of wine Saturday night and the Obikwa Moscato was the hands down favorite. Grandpa gave it two bottoms-up. He wanted nothing to do with my beers once the Moscato was unscrewed.
The Moscato originates from the Southern Cape of South Africa. It is a sweet white wine, but not too sweet. There was no sugar belly to be had after a few glasses of the Moscato. It went down smooth with a good aftertaste. The only downfall to this wine was that we only had one bottle.
Best attribute: $3.99 a bottle. Thank you Melbourne Beach Market.

Got My Hair Did
I have to thank Grandma for this weekend's haircut. I have to file this under Pillar III of my early retirement plan.
The Wahl clippers ran about $21. I suppose I would normally get a hair cut every two months. That would be 6 cuts/yr @ $20 each = $120 per year. With these numbers I can assume that after cut #1 the clippers have paid for themselves. The clippers should have a pretty long lifetime but I will guess about 5 years. 5 years X $120 = $600.
So there you have it, I purchased a $21 pair of shears and get $600 or more on the back end.

Spoiled Animals
Grandpa, Grandma and Mom stayed for the weekend. The "no animals allowed on the furniture" rule was quickly abandoned.
