Going Nuts!

Camping Time

I went camping out at Seminole Ranch with Dave and Justin. Plenty of mayhem, almost had a bow-drill fire.  Tried out the Vietnam era hammock, it was super amazing and cozy however I am not a back sleeper so about 45 minutes is the best I could do.

Jerky Train

I made my second craigslist purchase, an unopened food dehydrator. It seemed like a steal for $15 bucks. The idea was to make my own jerky, and success was achieved! It was not a difficult process however the meat was still pretty expensive. I will have to do research on cheaper cuts to make it more cost effective.

Fantastic Camping Find

Our neighborhood had their annual garage sale and I picked up this jewel at the first stop. It looked like a basic camo tarp, then I noticed the netting and found out what it really was. A Vietnam issue jungle hammock complete with cardboard tags. It appears to be unused. With some new cords this should hold me high and dry next week when I go camping.

Pot Pie of the Year

I ate one of these at the Paula Deen restaurant in Savannah, it ruined pot pie forever, no others will compare. Luckily she has the recipe online, it cut the heavy cream in half so it wasn't as super-thick, but it was tasty all the same.

Did I Ever Mention the Book?

Yeah, I wrote a book, well more of a story. It was earlier this year and I just realized that I never posted about it. Alea did a great job on the cover.

First Batch of the Year

The Butler's Pantry is fired up. The sweet samples are ready to go and the spicy are on the way.

Caves

We visited the only caves in Florida! I remember visiting them when we were younger but not sure which trip it was. Possibly Alaska to Florida.

Safari Adventure

Tom and April took us to the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch. Plenty of animals stuck their heads in for food and some may have taken paint off of the new van. Thomas hung out the window for the entire ride while Ruby scammed pellets of Alea, April and I.

Early Birthday Dinner.

Tom and April took us to the Magic Time Machine where we met a very entertaining J. Sparrow.  He made everyone boo Alea because she ordered water. It was definitely the most interesting dining experience I've encountered.

Alamo History

In typical fashion, the Butler's bare witness to history. We went to downtown San Antonio to check out the Alamo and it just so happened that Phil Collins was having a press conference. He decided to donate his collection and we were about ten feet away. We had no clue til we asked some people.

Lackland

We made it in one piece! Ruby was super excited to see us and Tom took us to the airplane garden.

Sea Worthy

Maggie had her second trip on the water (first in a canoe). She served as the ships coxswain, whining profusely when the oars stopped moving. We caught sight of a baby dolphin with mom and Beth spotted a pair of flamingos heading North.

Clean Teeth

We visited Steve, Eva, Mason, Christian, and Lillian for an evening and a day. The kids taught me how to brush my teeth. Next time I get to sit on the sink.

Here's to a wonderful weekend with Nick and Gina!  We swam, caught fish and looked at old stuff.

Dinner With Grandma Maggie

Nick and Gina came to visit, they brought 4lbs of meat and we had a wonderful dinner with grandma Maggie sleeping peacefully nearby.

1st Summer Project Completed

Gardening and transplanting gets pretty annoying when you don't have a good spot. About $50 worth of lumber and screws from Lowe's is all it took. I also called in for some help from my good friend Nick, he's pretty good with the wood.

Tally Me Banana

We just harvested our first bunch of bananas. The plant came from the FIT Spring plant sale, they guy said they are the same strain that Chiquita uses.  The second bunch just popped out so there will be plenty more down the road.

Relay 4 Life

We showed up at 2 P.M. and got home at 8:30 the next morning.  It was a long haul but definitely a blast.  There is a picture of what 4 a.m. looks like with no sleep and our booth below.  The lollipops were not a big hit however the toilet toss was very popular.

New Shelf

We picked the ladder up for only $6 and the bracket ran about $10.  Super excited about how it turned out.

Rockin it at the Market!

We set up shop at the Market today, the last booth in the alley.  Saw a few Gelfonds and a couple of Leprechauns!  Big thanks to our new marketing manager Max, he drummed up tons of business with his youthful savvy.  I need to step my game up and get one of those sweet banners!
